Transportation and venue

All talks will take place in the Stockholm University Mathematics Department, Kräftriket, building 5, room 14 (just inside entrance B) — map.

Getting to the venue

The mathematics department is on the Kräftriket campus, directly served by the Albano bus stop, and 1km walk from the metro stop Universitetet (on the Red Line, Mörby Centrum branch) on the main Frescati campus.

Getting around in Stockholm

Stockholm has extensive and reliable public transport — buses, metro (T-bana), and local trains (Pendeltåg). Payment for all is with an “SL Access Card”, which you can buy at stations and newsagents, either with pay-as-you-go credit or a fixed-duration pass (fares and information), or by smartphone app. Route information and timetables can be found on the SL journey planner or Google maps. Anywhere close to the T-bana (especially the red line) or to bus route 50 will be convenient for travel to/from the venue.

Several app-based bike and scooter rental schemes are also active in Stockholm, e.g. EU Bikes, Voi scooters, and Lime scooters. (Note though that the City Bikes available in previous years are now discontinued.)

Airports

Stockholm has three airports: Arlanda (ARL), main airport, most frequent transport connections; Bromma (BMA), small, close to city; and Skavsta/Nyköping (NYO), further away, mostly used by budget airlines.

Transport options from the airports to central Stockholm include Flygbussarna airport coaches (Arlanda and Skavsta), the Arlanda Express, Pendeltag city trains (Arlanda), and city buses (Bromma). Further advice.

Restaurants

There are many restaurants along or near Odengatan, about 30 minutes’ walk from the venue or 15 minutes by bus 50 to Stadsbiblioteket/Odenplan/Vasaparken. A few suggestions are:

  • Tranan (map): good traditional Swedish food, nice atmosphere
  • Bar Khachapuri (map): Georgian food and wine, relaxed atmosphere, outdoor seating
  • Itamae Thai Style (map): cheap and cheerful Thai food

A couple more recommendations around the city:

Stockholm restaurants close quite early, often at 21:00 or 22:00. Late night options are mostly fast food, e.g. the Falafel Kungen by Stadsbiblioteket, or Max Burger at various locations.

Accommodation

Participants are expected to arrange their own accommodation. Below are some suggested hotels/hostels, but to compare prices and locations it may be more efficient to use an online booking service such as hotels.com, booking.com, or similar.

Transit time from hotels to the venue can easily be checked on the SL journey planner (get directions to “Albano (Stockholm)”), or Google maps (get directions to “Kräftriket 5B”).

Hostels & less expensive hotels

(Note these may have shared bathrooms, etc.)

The following are close to bus route 50, which goes directly to Albano:

Or on Drottninggatan, in the very center of Stockholm:

Midrange to upper-midrange priced hotels

The following are within 15-25 min walking distance of the venue, and also close to direct bus routes to Albano (50, 670, or 639):

Slightly less convenient for the venue, but right next to the “Norra Stationsgatan” stop for the Flygbussarna (bus to Arlanda airport):
